Research - focus groups

Ayaah is in my target audience for my music video because she enjoys listening to all genres of music and finds music videos entertaining.



Name: Eleanor 
Age: 17
Occupation: Fashion re-seller 
 Psychographic: Aspirer 
Interests: Fashion, design, reading, interior design, social media, makeup 
Eleanor is in my target audience due to her age and passion for social media, as this young interest is what will be reflected in the music video.

Name: Ana 
Age: 17
Occupation: Student 
Psychographic: Explorer 
Interests: Fashion, art, reading, dance, makeup, cooking, Music
Ana is in my target audience as she stated that she enjoys music and likes the detail of the genre love in terms of a music video, aswell as her being  a fan of the indie genre of music.


 Name: Juliet 
Age: 17
Occupation: Student 
Psychographic: Reformer 
Interests: Travelling, Fashion, Languages, Cooking, Reading, Nature/Eco-friendly 
Juliet is in my target audience because of her age and her interests interlink with the contents and plans that correlate with my music video, she will understand any specific references to her age and interests  due to the demographic she is in.

Age: 27
Occupation: Social Media Influencer 
Psychographic: Explorer 
Interests: Health, Fitness, Fashion, Cooking, Travelling, Art
Poppy would not be in my target audience because of her age, due to her exceeding the 16-25 age range she may not understand all references in my media product and it may not appeal to her as much as those aged 16-25

Name: Kea
Age: 15
Occupation: GCSE student 
Psychographic: Reformer
Interests: Fashion, makeup, singing, beauty, dance, theatre, astrology 
Kea does not fit into my target audience due to her age being below 16-25, this means she may not feel my media product appeals to her due to the differences in age which also may lead to her not understanding all the references



My focus group is made up of 4 subjects who all fit into my target audience of a socially-conscious 16-25 year old, middle to upmarket demographic.
Following my audience research on music videos I asked them more questions about how they music and watch music videos.

How regularly do you watch music videos?
Ayaah: At least twice a week 
Eleanor: Almost every day
Ana: Maybe one a month 
Juliet: very rarely 
Poppy: Never
Kea: Every day

What is your favorite genre of  music?
Ayaah: Alternative pop/ indie
Eleanor: Mainstream hip hop 
Ana: Pop/ rock 
Juliet: Indie/ pop
Poppy: Hip hop

Do you enjoy watching music videos?
Ayaah: Yes, but it does depend on the type of music video 
Eleanor: I do enjoy watching them, I feel that they are an interesting way to listen to music whilst have visuals to go along with the lyrics
Ana: I do, but I mainly enjoy listening to the music however the videography is important 
Juliet: I prefer to use Spotify, but if a music video fits me then I would enjoy watching a story unfold to the lyrics
Poppy: No
Kea: Yes, but the visuals must match the vibe of the song
